Blogging in Education

I actually really enjoyed blogging over the past few weeks. Initially, I was not sure how I was going to feel since I have never been someone who has enjoyed journalling or writing about things in the past. However, I found that blogging about my ideas, reactions and comments to happenings in education to be very therapeutic and helpful.

I am not sure that I personally would keep up with a blog as a teacher just simply because of the lack of time that I have. I think that if I was able to manage all the happenings around me, and found myself with extra free-time, it would be a possibility that I could keep one going.

I think that in the classroom, a blog could be a great tool for students to use for many different reasons. Originally, I thought of a blog being used to serve as a digital journal for students to write about their feelings throughout the year. I think it would be interesting to see their journey in feelings, academic progress and overall reactions to events that take place throughout the year. I also think it could be a good tool for students to engage with others on a safe format that can be controlled. Do I see myself using a blog in the next year in the classroom, no not necessarily. But, I could see myself using it as an administrator to keep track of the happenings that I experience to look back on over the years. I may keep it more as a personal blog, rather than one of an educational form!
